Democracy or Fascism?
Why another political website? Because I can find nothing that compiles background information, resources and potential solutions about the fascist coup that is being perpetrated on the United States of America by Donald J. Trump and his cronies. If you don’t care about your future, then don’t read this. If you want a government to decide how you are to spend the rest of your life, don’t read this. But if you want to be able to make your own decisions, then invest the time to get informed. It takes effort to get and stay informed and to be able to make intelligent decisions. This is one resource to help you do just that.

The threat that Trump and his fascist supporters pose to America and the rest of the world is unprecedented. Never has our way of life been so threatened! We are losing our American democracy because of the actions of one man and his enablers: Donald J. Trump, the Heritage Foundation, and almost all who belong to the Republican Party. They have trashed the principles of the US Constitution and are trying to subjugate everyone living within the borders of the United States.
This is a five-alarm fire that requires immediate action in order to save what is left of the structure. Rebuilding will take years, and our American home will never be the same. It is now time to focus all of our attention to blocking, arresting and prosecuting the fascist arsonists. This is not political hyperbole, but a matter of life and death, that of our democratic way of life and that of millions of people who are dependent on us.

If you believe in the US Constitution and our democratic form of government, you can’t afford to be apathetic or ignore the insanity around us, let alone support the fascist takeover. To do any of this is to act criminally. Real Americans believe in our democratic form of government and are willing to discuss and vote on the issues; they are not willing to live under the edicts proclaimed via executive orders. We are on the way to allowing a dictator to determine our way of life, and this must be stopped immediately.

So how do you want to spend the rest of your life? Do you want to live in a democracy, able to discuss and vote on the topics that matter? Or do you want to let an autocrat rule as a dictator, dispense with the constitutional rule-of-law, determine where and how you will live, whether and where you can get health care, whom you can marry and raise a family with?

We hear the different labels being thrown around, but what do they really mean? Here are some simple definitions:

Many people have decided that they cannot support a dictatorial form of government, even many Republicans, a great many of whom served under Donald Trump over the year. They decided that they could not and cannot in good conscience support Trump and his cohorts. From Wikipedia:

Implementing the Coup
Although Trump distanced himself from Project 2025 during his campaign, his administration's first 100 days align very closely with many of its proposals. He has eliminated federal DEI initiatives, moved to dismantle the Department of Education, and pardoned January 6 rioters. His policies, rolled out by executive order, are restructuring the federal government and rolling back established civil rights protections. This consolidation of executive power is his attempt to implement the executive unitary theory, bypassing established governmental agencies and leading to excessive presidential authority and undermining checks and balances.

This company was founded by Peter Thiel, who mentored JD Vance, and has been instrumental in helping the Israeli Defense Forces strike targets in Gaza.

In order to implement Project 2025 and take over the government, Trump had to first get elected. Republican-led efforts to challenge voter registration and impose restrictions that disproportionately affect communities of color have been coordinated by various figures and organizations. One key figure involved is Cleta Mitchell, a lawyer who previously advised Trump on election-related matters. She leads the Election Integrity Network (EIN), which has played a significant role in supporting Republican-backed voting restrictions. (Rolling_Stone)
Several Republican-led states have enacted laws that impose new restrictions on voter registration drives, usually affecting communities of color. For example, Tennessee and Louisiana recently passed laws that limit third-party voter registration efforts and impose penalties for errors (Two states with Republican trifectas adopted new requirements for voter registration drives – Ballotpedia News.) How Can the Fascist Trump Regime be Stopped?
As I hope has been made clear, Donald Trump is, along with his henchmen, leading the United States down the path to becoming a fascist country, run by an autocrat and supported by rich oligarchs, who is cutting the earned benefits of America’s citizens and immigrants in order to enrich themselves. They have violated the US Constitution in a myriad of ways and set themselves up for legal prosecution. It is up to us, the rest of the country, to take whatever measures possible, to expel Trump and his cronies from office.
We are in the middle of a coup, of a fascist takeover, of our American government. We don’t have the time for the political process to work itself out, especially if so many people remain disinterested or ambivalent. Although the courts are busy, we can't wait and see how the judicial process plays out. The rulings of SCOTUS helped put us in this mess to begin with! However, more and more people in both parties are waking up and engaging with their representatives.
Thousands of people, young, old, veterans, citizens, and immigrants have lost their jobs in the meanwhile; DEI is being dismantled; livelihoods and actual lives are being destroyed and people are being denied due process and shipped off to foreign concentration camps with no hope of returning! Trump's tariffs will result in more inflation and in shortages on the shelves, leading to a recession, not just here, but throughout the world.
Trump is using the constitution and the laws that he is breaking to protect himself and those around him from prosecution. He has helped install conservative justices to the Supreme Court who do his bidding and “interpret” the founders’ intentions to create a political environment that allows Trump to trample on the rights of the American people while protecting him from political harm.
What can be done? There is no single answer that will force Trump out of office like magic. It will take a combination of efforts:
BE ACTIVE:
Almost everyone can take some action. Reach out to the resources at the end of this website, attend meetings, find out how to donate your time, writing postcards, working the telephone banks, and attending protests.
CALL AND WRITE YOUR POLITICAL REPRESENTATIVES regularly and let them know your stand on the issues. See Fight Back Against the Trump-Musk Coup | Indivisible for tips on contacting your reps. Demand that they take action!
ATTEND TOWN HALLS AND SPEAK UP!
SUPPORT EFFORTS TO IMPEACH TRUMP. There are and will be efforts to introduce articles of impeachment in the House of Representatives. It is important to support all efforts, to make your representatives go on record. Use their lack of support for impeachment to use against them in their next re-election efforts.
If at some point Trump is impeached in the House and convicted in the Senate, JD Vance will become the next president (!!) and will nominate the next vice president, who must be confirmed by the House and the Senate. If the House and/or the Senate has a Democratic majority after the 2026 election, then the Democrats will have some say on who the Vice President is after an impeachment and Republicans won’t have the power to continue with the damaging policies of Project 2025.

ATTEND POLITICAL RALLIES AND DEMONSTRATIONS. A combination of efforts must be implemented. We need to get more people engaged and informed about the loss of our American democracy. Each national demonstration results in more people becoming aware and exercising their voices, but we must step it up. It’s time to call for a national strike!
